Cable Car: Andrew Hilladie was the driving force behind the cable car system. 1873 the first line starts public service.1947 attempt to close down the cable car system. The Citizen's Comitee to save the cable cars began a petition. In a voting the City of San Francisco was forced to maintain the Powell Street cable car system.
